Whine under load

Post by z28 »

I hit 100k miles and I swear this thing is falling apart. Alright here's the latest issue. Ive got a whine under load. It goes away when I let off the throttle and it's there when I get back in it. It only happens in 2nd and 3rd gear. Speed does not affect it. Any one have this problem before or have any ideas. It's been doing this for a couple thousand miles now and it seems to run and drive fine.

Could be the rear end or front end or transfer case ..... Really sounds like the rear tho...I had an ext cab do that Of course I hauled up 2700 lbs in the bed and hauled a trailer on occasion with mine also had one that was lowered 5/6 do that whined when coasting at speeds tho....was pinion... Never changed fluid in rear and it got the best of me

Mine squished the pinion shims. Seems like it may have made a whine noise too.

WHere is the whine coming from? front rear? My truck whines under load and its the power steering pump. Makes it sound like I have a supercharger almost.

Alright here's what I found last weekend. When I'm in the truck it sounds like it's coming from the trans/t case area but with the windows down it sounds like front end. I jacked up the front and spun the wheels when I spin the left front I get a growl from the gears in the front axle. The right side makes no noise. Is it possible to have a hub stuck(or what ever these use to lock in). I checked the vacuum actuator and cable and they seem to be working fine.

could be the cv... my cv boot split open once and after everything inside of it was destroyed when i had to go through some mud, it made a horrible noise.
